Level 3 Mental Health First Aid in the Workplace Requalification

Objectives

To refresh the Mental Health First Aider on a wide range of skills and knowledge so that he/she can competently recognise when someone is suffering. Upon successful completion of this course, a Qualsafe approved Mental Health First Aid at Work certificate will be awarded (valid for 3 years).

Contents

This course is broken down into 4 parts, with each part taking approximately a quarter of the day to complete. All parts are essential in gaining a useful and coherent understanding of requalification on mental health in the workplace.

Part 1: Understanding Mental Health & The Action Plan

• Listening
• Prejudice and discrimination

Part 2: Depression/Suicide/Self-Care

• Mental illness
• Depression
• Suicide
• Self-care

Part 3: Anxiety/Self-Harm/Eating Disorders/Psychosis/Bipolar

• Anxiety disorders
• Eating disorders
• Bipolar disorders
• Self-harm
• Psychosis

Part 4: Application in the Workplace/Recovery/Assessment

• Legislation
• Role of a mental health first aider
• Implementing a good mental health practice in the workplace
• Recovery
• Assessment

This course contains a few activities, tasks, exercises (option to opt-out) and assessments to be completed by the delegates enabling them to be an effective mental health first aider in the workplace.
