Qualsafe Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid.

Objectives

The objective of the qualification is to benefit Learners by preparing them to deal with
a range of paediatric first aid situations and/or take on the role of first aider in an early
years setting. Upon successful completion of this course, a Qualsafe approved
Emergency Paediatric First Aid certificate will be awarded (valid for 3 years).

Contents

Each student must demonstrate that they are able to:

• Perform Infant CPR and safe use of an AED.
• Perform Child CPR and safe use of an AED.
• Perform treatment for a Choking casualty.
• Treat paediatric wounds, bleeding, and shock.
• Treat an unconscious casualty.

They must also be able to deal with a young casualty who:

• Requires cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use of an AED (practical)
• Is unconscious (including seizures)
• Is bleeding or wounded (including catastrophic bleeding)
• Is suffering from shock (practical• Is suffering from choking (practical)
