Evolve are delighted to announce that, to increase the range of the training we provide to our customers, we have decided to offer Reach Truck training on our premises in Dyce.
In the past we have only offered this training on our customer's premises, but after long consideration, we have decided to commit to purchase a Reach Truck and add this training on our premises in Dyce. We have now got the facilities in our new forklift training area to provide basic, conversion and refresher reach truck courses
This means that you can be sure that your delegates are getting top notch training, without the inconvenience of your own reach truck being used for the duration of the training.

Joyce has reached a decade of Employment here at Evolve.
Joyce started with us on the 20th April 1990 at our premises over at Howemoss Terrace, Dyce employed as our caterer in a kitchen that you touch the wall at either side, where she catered for a maximum of 10 people everyday
Now we have supplied her with a purpose built canteen facility where she would be catering for nearer 80 delegates per day. Joyce is now our Catering Supervisor, and works with a team alongside her.
If you have been at Evolve you will have met or heard of Joyce.
We regularly have comments about our “mother hen” who will do anything to help each delegate with different diets being catered for every week.
Joyce always has her tales, of what she’s been up to at the weekend with Billy and her boys to her next holiday bargain.
There is never a dull moment at Evolve where Joyce is concerned!!

Another Successful Audit for Evolve
Evolve are continually audited by our various Accrediting bodies to ensure that the excellent standards of our courses are kept.
In the last few weeks Independent Training Standards Scheme and Register (ITSAAR), the organisation that accredits our Forklift training came to Evolve for their annual audit. As always, we passed with flying colours and in one particular area the auditor congratulated us on the training facilities we have at our centre:
"The practical training area is well laid out with variously weighted loads, it is also one of the cleanest I have seen for sometime, this I put down to the instructor having pride in his profession as well as a committed management structure within the company"

OPITO Stage 3 Banksman/Slinger Operations
Evolve are pleased to announch that we now offer the OPITO Stage 3 Banksman/Slinger Operations, which is aimed at those with two years practice slinging and lifting experience.
This is a one-day assessment that is delivered at our training centre in Dyce, Aberdeen.
Candidates are assessed on a number of lifting operations - including legislation, risk assessment, control measures and planning of lifting operations - giving those who successfully complete the assessment a recognised measurement of competency.
The price of this course is £275 + VAT per delegate plus £26 + VAT for the OPITO assessment, certificate and log book.

First Person on Scene (FPOS) Training Accreditation Gained
Evolve are pleased to announce that approval has been received from edexcel to run the IHCD First Person on Scene Basic and Intermediate First Aid courses.
The Basic course is 3 hour pre-study, 10 hours contact time and 2 hour assessment, while the Intermediate course is 3 hour pre-study, 30 hours contact time and 2 hour assessment.
Along with HSE approval for Offshore First Aid, First Aid at Work and Emergency First Aid at Work, the addition of these courses means that Evolve can cater for all areas of industry, community and personal First Aid response.

HSE Revision of First Aid Training
As of October 2009, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have revised their HSE Approved First Aid courses and Evolve are proud to announce that they will be delivering these new and improved courses as of Thursday 1st October 2009.
First Aid at Work
One of the major changes from the HSE revision is that the First Aid at Work course, which was historically a four-day course, has now been changed to a three-day course.
This course, which must still be refreshed before the expiry date three years after initial completion, also now carries a strong recommendation from the HSE that the delegate should undertake an annual update.
HSE Approved Emergency First Aid
Taking place of the First Aid for the Approved Person's course, the NEW HSE Approved Emergency one-day course will also be delivered by Evolve Training.
This course also carries a strong recommendation from the HSE to be annual updated as well as the refresher course after three years.
First Aid Updates at Evolve Training
Evolve will be delivering First Aid Updates on the last Friday of every month and we are pleased to announce that if you choose Evolve to do the First Aid at Work or New Emergency First Aid course, these updates will be included in the price of the course. This means that your First Aiders will be kept up-to-date FREE OF CHARGE!
For non-Evolve trained First Aider, the First Aid Update will be priced at £55 + VAT per delegate.

HEALTH & SAFETY OFFENCES ACT 2008 - NEW LEGISLATION CAME INTO FORCE 4/2/2009
Is your organisation clued up about the amendment to section 33 of the
Health and Safety at Work Act 1974?
The Health and Safety Offences Act 2008 means organisations flouting the law will face far stiffer penalties
Introduced as a Private Members' Bill by Keith Hill MP, and supported by the Government, the effects of the Act are to:

Raise the maximum fine which may be imposed in the lower courts to £20,000 for most health and safety offences

Make imprisonment of up to two years an option for more health and safety offences in both courts
-
Make certain offences, currently only triable in the lower courts, triable in either lower or higher courts
HSE Chair Judith Hackitt welcomed the Act, saying, "The new Act sends out an important message to those who flout the law. However, good managers have nothing to fear. I want to remind businesses that there are no changes to their existing legal duties."
Flouting the law could cost your business £20,000 and mean up to two years in prison. Remember - this Act effects all aspects of business, so now is a good time to review your training needs. Ensure you are up to date with the new Health and Safety Offences Act and find out how it affects work-related risks.

NEW UP-DATED SAFETY PASSPORT TRAINING COURSES
Evolve Training are now offering the new up-dated Safety Passport training courses - 2-day and 1-day Renewal course.The ECITB in conjunction with CCNSG have just released a new professional version of the National Safety Passport.
CCNSG Safety Passport Scheme
The aim of the CCNSG Safety Passport Scheme is to ensure a basic knowledge of health and safety for all site personnel to enable them, after appropriate site induction, to work on site more safely with lower risk to themselves and others.
Who should follow the programme?
The training programme is aimed at all site personnel.
Purpose of the programme
The main purpose of the CCNSG Safety Passport Training Programme is to ensure that all site personnel and individuals going on-site have a basic knowledge of health and safety, after appropriate site induction, to work on-site more safely with lower risk to themselves and others.
After successfully completing a two-day training course individuals will be awarded a ‘Safety Passport' which is then valid for three years.
The programme in detail
The two-day training programme covers four basic modules:
§ Safe Behaviour at Work
§ Safe Place of Work
§ Safe Systems of Work
§ Safety Problems and Safe Solutions
The programme involves a significant amount of delegate participation. Most contractors' personnel know something about the topics before they arrive and lively discussions are often the order of the day. In presenting the course, the trainers talk with the trainees rather than at them, giving the continuous message "If you can't do it safely, don't do it".

EVOLVE TRAINING HAVE RECENTLY COMPLETED THE DELIVERY OF RIGGING & LIFTING TRAINING FOR A NUMBER OF CANDIDATES FROM ANGUS COLLEGE.
The candidates are Trainee Design Engineers who are employed by companies such as Wood Group Engineering, Aker Solutions, Amec and PSN, and are on a programme designed by the college. They attended the training at Evolve to give them an appreciation of lifting operations and techniques.
Roddy Scott from Angus College said "Many thanks for this and please pass on my thanks to you and your colleagues for the very successful delivery of this series of courses. It has been mentioned at our Industry Group meetings with the client group".
Evolve also spoke to Janice MacGregor at Wood Group Engineering, who was delighted with the training her trainees received, and commented that this was "by far the best provider they have had".
Evolve Training are delighted to have been part of this programme, which included practical exercises allowing the candidates to put into practice what they had learned.

FURTHER APPROVALS
Due to the skills shortage, Evolve Training are proud to announce that we are now approved by OPITO to carry out Rigger Assessments.
Evolve's program allows us to assess candidates against the OPITO standard of competence over a two day period. Thereforem we are inviting those who have two or more years experience as riggers, but do not hold a qualification to come to Evolve and be assessed against the OPITO standard.
Successfully candidates will be awarded with an OPITO certificate, which will allow you to work as a Rigger in the Offshore Oil Industry.

HSE APPROVAL FOR FIRST AID
Evolve Training have recently had an inspection from the HSE and successfully gained approval to provide OFFSHORE FIRST AID.
This is a 4-day course which will give an insight into the requirements of an Offshore First Aider. This is a very indepth course where attendees will gain sufficient knowledge whether they work on or offshore.
